UNWAXED GELCOAT

USE IN MOULDS FOR FIBERGLASS PARTS OR REPAIR, RESURFACING OF BOATS, ATVs, RV’s TUBS

Use an unwaxed Gelcoat when applying multiple layers or covering fiberglass in a mold. Gelcoat or resin can be applied over existing cured unwaxed Gelcoat without sanding.  Wet sand cured unwaxed Gelcoat or add 3% Air Dry to the last coat only for easier final sanding.

Add 1.5% MEKP Hardener (8 drops per oz.) above 20C°/70F°, 2 % (10 drops per oz.) below.  Mix only the volume of Gelcoat you can use within 10 to 15 minutes.  The working time is around 15 to 20 minutes. Recoat when the previous coat starts to gel, approximately 30 to 60 minutes.  Apply fiberglass without sanding after hard cure, a minimum of 4 hours or overnight.

Brush or Roll out as smoothly as possible over clean sanded to 220 grit Gelcoat or Polyester Resin.  For spray application in molds thin with Acetone or Styrene to get an even fan without splatter.  If spraying an exterior finish coat use Duratec High Gloss Additive.  The spray gun should have a large tip nozzle and external cartelist cup or add premixed gelcoat without the external cup.  Clean the gun with Acetone immediately after use.
